Cherries at Strawberry Acres!

We braved the heat this morning to pick some fresh cherries at Strawberry Acres in Coplay.  There were few people picking today despite the cherries being in prime picking condition.  We rode their "bus" to the picking fields after checking in at the counter to get a bucket.  The ride was rather bumpy! I had to tightly hold on to both kids.

We picked with the help of some of the staff for a little while.  They pulled branches down for my 3 year old to reach and so should could pull them off the branches.  The shade of the trees was cool and I didn't seem too hot when out of the sun.  We didn't fill the bucket, because I knew we wouldn't be able to eat all of them! The staff was so friendly and helpful.

Our haul! We paid $3.50 per lb, and left with just over 2 lbs.

The farm was all but empty when we visited, there were about 3 cars in the gravel lot when we arrived. From start to finish we were there less than an hour.  You could certainly spend more time picking but for a quick morning outing it was just right! I recommend going on a weekday if you can, as I am sure crowds are much heavier on weekends.  Cherry season is finishing up soon, get there ASAP and always call ahead 610-261-2323 or check their HOTLINE page on their site to see what is available for picking.

So proud of her "baby" cherries!!!!

Who doesn't LOVE grocery Shopping !?!?

Today we turned a perfectly boring trip to the grocery store into a lovely little outing.

Because of Wegmans (Allentown) remodel they now have a nicely decorated kids space in their new dining space with things to entertain your little ones.  Coloring pages and crayons, a fully stocked train table and a little lemonade stand and a large flat screen TV.  Personally I could do without the TV mostly because my little chickie was more interested in gazing at than she was interested in playing with the toys.  The promise of getting to play after we finished shopping seemed to work (today at least) and made getting through the shopping trip a bit easier. Even if you didn't have an grocery shopping to do it would be a perfect little stop to get outside the house for a change of scenery.

Wegmans hosts a bunch of events monthly for little ones most of which are free. Here is April's event list.

Our Trip to Burlington means BIG things for the Lehigh Valley

        Burlington, VT September 2012

Lehigh Valley Find & Go Seek is a fun and easy way to search, discover and talk about what's great (and not so great) to do in our area. We all know some of the best ideas and suggestions come from our friends and trusted sources.  Find & Go Seek collects and organizes all that information for you in one convenient place.

As parents we were always hearing bits and pieces of what was going on in our area from friends or neighbors. It was mind boggling to try to organize everything we had available especially when searching for child care, preschools or special events.  We’d hear mixed reviews about one place or another but could never keep anything straight. We have an active and diverse community in the Lehigh Valley, there is so much is available to us! There are activities for every type of family are out there and it’s about time we have a resource where everything comes together in one place.  Our comprehensive listings along with the honest reviews from parents and caregivers makes creating memorable experiences and finding quality resources effortless.

Stephanie and Nick Miller stumbled upon Find & Go Seek while visiting Burlington, VT in 2012.  Stephanie found the site when looking to find ways to entertain their two small children during their visit and was impressed by Find & Go Seek’s comprehensive list of activities and user reviews. She set out to search for similar sites in her hometown and was disappointed to find there was nothing comparable. Stephanie sat down for coffee with Dana and Andy Freeman of Williston, VT, the founders of Find & Go Seek and knew she must bring Find & Go Seek back with to the Lehigh Valley so her friends and neighbors could enjoy all it has to offer.

Lehigh Valley Find & Go Seek encompasses the areas in and around Lehigh Valley in Eastern Pennsylvania, including Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton and surrounding towns.
