Last week we released our "Fall in the Valley" newsletter. It has been a busy past few weeks around here with tons of fall related trips all over! Though we are nearly halfway through October already and Christmas carols will be sneaking in in a matter of weeks there is still LOTS of time to enjoy some fun fall activities. The fall fun category has local trick or treat nights listed on the calendar, lehigh valley halloween parades, fall festivals and more!

They say it's your birthday...

We celebrated a birthday at our house last week and were extremely fortunate to get to use 3 fantastic local businesses who helped us celebrate!  I want to share everything they did for us with all of you!  We're so happy to be able to support LOCAL small businesses in the Lehigh Valley to celebrate this birthday and we recommend making an effort to do the same.  Please share, like or link to this post as much as you like!

We are so thankful to Trixie's Treats, Photography by Dana Lee and to Kiera from MotherBaby Naturals for helping to make this birthday one to remember!


This adorable shirt made by Kiera was custom done to match the color theme for the party.  It matched just right and was perfect for her celebration and for our pictures.  Our little one is tiny, so finding a birthday shirt to fit her was a struggle, so having Kiera make one was the perfect solution! Thank you Kiera

We had cakes made by the very lovely and talented Tracy Mathews of Trixie's Treats.  The large sheet cake she did for our guests was delicious and the little bit that was left over stayed really well in the fridge for about a week.   She was so kind to do a special smash cake to be used for our 1 year old photo shoot as well!  It was beautifully decorated with fondant polka dots and a number 1.

Finally we concluded our week of celebration with a birthday smash cake shoot! We used the beautiful flowers and scenery at the Allentown Rose Gardens for the shoot and WOW!! The flowers were blooming everywhere and there wasn't a bad background in sight.  It looked like a tropical oasis with all the rain we've gotten this month in the #lehighvalley.  Dana Miller of Photography by Dana Lee couldn't have been more energetic or easy to work with.  She is extremely talented and puts every ounce of energy into her work.  Her photos are clear, focused and always seem to POP!  She took our newborn photos as well so it seemed like the perfect end to her first year!  She specializes in newborn, baby, child and family photography and is centrally located in the Lehigh Valley.

Giveaway fun!

Motherbaby Naturals at 901 N New St. in Bethlehem (Corner of Geopp and New Streets) is the first brick and mortar store to offer natual parenting products in the Lehigh Valley.  The store stocks cloth diapers, cloth diapering accessories, handmade gifts, clothing, baby carriers, wet bags and other eco friendly products like reusable snack bags. They have bath products, toys and even mom accessories. My Review: I've been using Woolzies for about 5 weeks now and they have become a permanent resident in our dryer.  When drying our cloth diapers I have definitely noticed a decrease in drying time when using them and have kept them in the dryer for the rest of our laundry loads too. I would recommend these to anyone, they're extremely easy to use and have numerous benefits. They last about 1,000 loads and save money by reducing drying time and help the environment by reducing waste from conventional dryer sheets and the packaging.

Tonight we announce a giveaway for 3 Tiny Treasures Kids Sale Pre-Sale passes!  Tiny Treasures is the Pocono's and NJ's premiere children's consignment event.   They are offering tens of thousands of kids items from clothing to toys to baby gear all weekend to local parents, grandparents and caregivers at fantastic prices.  

The sale begins with their private pre-sale which allows people to shop before the general public gets in meaning getting a head start on all that is available before everyone else!  The pre-sale runs from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday July 11th at Stroud Mall.

Cherries at Strawberry Acres!

We braved the heat this morning to pick some fresh cherries at Strawberry Acres in Coplay.  There were few people picking today despite the cherries being in prime picking condition.  We rode their "bus" to the picking fields after checking in at the counter to get a bucket.  The ride was rather bumpy! I had to tightly hold on to both kids.

                                                  

We picked with the help of some of the staff for a little while.  They pulled branches down for my 3 year old to reach and so should could pull them off the branches.  The shade of the trees was cool and I didn't seem too hot when out of the sun.  We didn't fill the bucket, because I knew we wouldn't be able to eat all of them! The staff was so friendly and helpful.

                            Our haul! We paid $3.50 per lb, and left with just over 2 lbs.

 The farm was all but empty when we visited, there were about 3 cars in the gravel lot when we arrived. From start to finish we were there less than an hour.  You could certainly spend more time picking but for a quick morning outing it was just right! I recommend going on a weekday if you can, as I am sure crowds are much heavier on weekends.  Cherry season is finishing up soon, get there ASAP and always call ahead 610-261-2323 or check their HOTLINE page on their site to see what is available for picking.

We're off and running

We have been officially launched for about 2 weeks now and things are going great! We have a second launch event coming this weekend at Trident Swim and Tennis Club. The Club has been so generous to open their doors to us and all of our sponsors.  We will be showcasing the club and our brand new website to everyone.  The event is FREE and will include crafts, games, raffle prizes and a visit from Trixie's Treats - the mobile cupcake and treat truck! Roey's Paintbox Parties will be doing canvas painting! We will have samples from Tastefully Simple. The pool will open at 12:00 if anyone is interested in a chilly dip! bring friends and family ALL are welcome.

Saturday May 25th  11am to 1pm
